Mexico has recently positioned as one of the most luxurious and best destinations to travel, as it offers several options for different types of travelers. It seems that tourism continues to pour in 2016, and the three main tourist destinations (Riviera Maya, Los Cabos and Puerto Vallarta) are becoming too mainstream for certain segments, lucky for everyone it seems that a new destination is arising slowly: Costa Cayeres.
This place is located on the Costalegre, which runs along Mexico’s Pacific coast Highway from Careyes to Punta Dorada. It is a part of Mexican coastline that is far from the crowded towns and massive chain hotels you’d expect to find in more famous destinations. Here travelers will find small and boutique hotels alongside with villas and smaller properties.
Recently, the multinational luxury goods conglomerate, LVMH announced the plan of opening a Cheval Blanc property in this region located in the south of Puerto Vallarta.
This hotel chain is known for its enchanting unreality exclusively created for the guests. Its ambiance relies on a new concept of fashionable travel that enhance the experience with extravagant details, from the atelier filled with Louis Vuitton products to suites adorned with silk, leather, fur and velvet. This new private jet set will become more accessible; a Costalegre airport is in the works, making it easier to reach the region. Right now, visitors have to fly either to Puerto Vallarta or Manzanillo and drive all the way to this place.
“If all goes well within two years the new airport will be up and running. The runway is already there and they’re working on the buildings. They will also be widening the road going in both directions,” Wayne Hudson tells to the press. Hudson is spokesperson of the Cuixmala’s private village.
Although the added airlift will bring more travelers, the idea is not to change the mood of Costalegre. They want to avoid the problem that happened in Quintana Roo with Riviera Maya and Tulum.
Hudson also mentioned, “Luckily, the master plan for the Costalegre area calls for low density eco-oriented tourism. That has remained in place and authorities have been very stringent about approving new projects. It’s great to have some positive things happening with the infrastructure. The developments are of a very high quality. It will maintain what’s already there.”
We can only wait and see how this Mexican gorgeous region starts to develop and starts becoming a hotspot for celebrities and Hollywood A-listers.
